Clara Nguyen Tran

A native of Toronto, Clara Nguyen-Tran is an active and versatile violist who has performed solo, chamber and orchestral music of various genres throughout venues in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

As a member of the Aeris String Quartet, she won first place in the University of Toronto’s Galimir and Haydn chamber competitions. Clara has previously been mentored by notable artists such as Atar Arad, Hsin-Yun Huang, Roger Tapping, and the Juilliard, Prazak, St. Lawrence, and Jupiter string quartets, among many others.

Currently, she performs regularly with orchestras such as the Canadian Opera Company, Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and Esprit Orchestra. She is also a member of the tango group Solidaridad, as well as the string collective to gather string.

Clara completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Eric Nowlin and Teng Li. She also holds an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School where she studied with Steven Dann.
