Ah LOVE.. Even though it may look like a straight line from A to B, it can often dissolve into a convoluted labyrinth. Sometimes there are triangles. Even squares. Five pointed stars too, sometimes!!! The possibilities, as you can imagine, are endless. In the complex maze of romantic relationships, whatever the particular shapes may be, it can become impossible to find a clear way out. And for some – lucky for us – the way out is through Music.
Let us raise a toast to the seemingly straight line of Richard Strauss’s love life, the complex triangles that surrounded Pauline Viardot and also Gustav Mahler, the tempestuous and glorious love-labyrinths of Ludwig van Beethoven and Frederic Chopin: we thank you for the music!
